Bengaluru, May 22: The Election Commission said that it would conduct the election to elect 11 members from the State Assembly to the Legislative Council on June 11 and the result would be announced on the same day.

The election code of conduct would be announced on May 24, May 31 is the last date for filing nomination papers and June 4 is the last date for withdrawal of nomination papers. The election would be held on June 11 and the result would be announced on the same day. The election is being held for 11 vacant posts including five each from BJP and Congress and one from JDS.

BJ Puttaswamy, DS Veeraiah, Somanna Bevinamarad, Raghunath Rao Malkapure and Bhanuprakash from BJP, CM Ibrahim, MR Sitaram, Motamma, K Govindaraju, Bhyrati Suresh from Congress and Syed Mudeer Aga from JDS would retire on June 17.

Hyderabad ( PTI): Noting that cybercrime has emerged as a major threat, Union Minister of State for Home Nityanand Rai on Friday urged IPS officer trainees to lead the endeavour to address the challenge with technical expertise.

Cyber forensic lab and other initiatives have been taken by the Union Home Ministry, he said.

He was speaking at the Dikshant Parade of the 76th batch of Regular Recruits of IPS at the Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel National Police Academy (SVPNPA) on Hyderabad outskirts.

The Parade marked the culmination of basic course training for 207 officer trainees, including 188 IPS officers and 19 foreign officers from countries like Nepal, Bhutan and others, with a notable 58 lady officers among them.
