Bengaluru: A recent social media post by MP Tejasvi Surya on his visit to the bridge across River Sabarmati has led many citizens to ask him to spend more time in his own constituency and see to its needs too.

Surya, who represents Bangalore South in the Parliament, on Thursday, lauded the works of the Gujarat government. Surya has said in his post, “Gujarat is emerging as a global tourism hub due to the efforts of the double-engine government of BJP.”

T V Mohandas Pai, an investment expert, responded to the post, requesting Surya, “Please spend more time in your constituency. We need better, cleaner and pothole-free roads, without debris,” also saying that the same ‘double-engine’ is in Karnataka too, but the engine does not work here.

Another citizen asked the MP to visit Bengaluru if he had time since the city is well-known now for potholes.

Against the backdrop of such posts by citizens, Congress has criticized Surya severely. Quoting the tweet by Pai, the party has said, “The MP was enjoying a dosa when his constituency was struggling against floodwater. He speaks now of the ‘double engine government’ of Gujarat instead of referring to the Karnataka government,” the Congress said.

Addressing the Prime Minister, the party said on its account, that a supporter of the BJP has unveiled the worth of the ‘trouble engine’ government and the BJP MP. “Don’t you pay attention to the words of your own people too?” the Congress has asked Narendra Modi.
