Mysuru, Dec 21: In a sudden development, zilla panchayat president Nayeema Sultan resigned from her post on Friday.
Following pressure from BJP and JDS members, the president has resigned from her post and given her resignation letter to vice president Nataraj. In her resignation letter, she has mentioned that “I am resigning from the post voluntarily and I would request to accept my resignation letter”.
While tendering her resignation, there was a verbal duels between ZP member Beerihundi Basavanna and Rehman, son of Nayeema. As the attitude of the ZP members has created confusion, the Congress members were waiting for the general body meeting. With this, the cold war between the ZP members came to the fore. It is said that vice president Nataraj would also tender his resignation. He would go to Bengaluru and tender his resignation to Rural Development and Panchayati Raj department principal secretary, it is said.
Rehman said that local influential people have put pressure on his mother to tender her resignation. So, she has resigned from her position. If the pressure continued in future, she would resign from her ZP membership, he added.

Tehran/Doha: Iran’s President Massoud Pezeshkian has warned that attacks on the country’s energy infrastructure could lead to “uncontrollable consequences” affecting the entire world.
In a post on X, Pezeshkian said he “strongly condemns” the strikes that targeted the South Pars gasfield earlier in the day.
“Such aggressive actions will not achieve anything for the American Zionist enemy and their supporters. Rather, they will complicate the situation and could lead to uncontrollable consequences that will affect the entire world,” he said.
Meanwhile, Qatar’s Ministry of Interior has urged residents to remain indoors due to what it described as an elevated security threat.
Authorities have not provided further details, but the advisory comes amid growing concerns over the safety of energy infrastructure and civilian areas in the region.
