Davangere: Congress MLC and State President of the Minority Cell of the party, K. Abdul Jabbar, has stated that neither the candidate nor his parents invited him to campaign for the upcoming Davangere South by-polls.
Jabbar, a senior leader from the party in the district, told Vartha Bharati that, “neither the (Davanagere South by-poll Congress) candidate nor his father or mother have called me to the campaign.”
His remarks come amid ongoing discussions over allegations that the minority community was insulted by being denied a ticket in the Davangere South by-polls, scheduled to be held on April 9.
He further stated that, “even when the Chief Minister came for campaigning, he did not invite me. At the very least, I did not receive any call from the Chief Minister’s office either.”
“How are we supposed to go without being invited? If we go without being invited and they later say we have ruined it, what will we do? I don’t know if they are sidelining us or treating us as if we are not needed," Jabbar questioned.
"They may be confident that we will win regardless of who comes or not, and that is why they did not invite us," Jabbar alleged.
Speaking to VB, Jabbar also expressed displeasure, stating that locals were upset over “Minister (Mallikarjuna’s) remarks that Minister Zameer Ahmed Khan did not need to campaign in the constituency.”
However, he clarified that he holds no resentment towards the party or its senior leadership.
“I am satisfied with the position I have been given in the party, and the party is implementing good programmes for minorities,” he added.
He further expressed disappointment, stating that when the high command was asked to announce in a press meet that Muslims would be given tickets after two years, they [the leaders] responded dismissively, saying “we will see about all that later."

Chitradurga: Karnataka BJP president and MLA B. Y. Vijayendra said former Chief Minister B. S. Yediyurappa did not struggle for power, but dedicated his political life to fighting for the people.
Speaking at the ‘Abhimanotsava’ organised in honour of Yediyurappa, Vijayendra said sacrifice, hard work and struggle are synonymous with the veteran leader’s name.
He described Yediyurappa as a mass leader who has inspired many, including himself. He said the large turnout of people from across Karnataka reflected the affection and respect the public continues to have for Yediyurappa.
Vijayendra said the event marked a historic moment and served as a tribute to Yediyurappa’s five decades in public life.
“I have closely witnessed his struggles. He has seen many ups and downs in life, but never turned his back on challenges. Whether it was political conspiracies or difficult situations, he always faced them with courage,” he said.
Vijayendra also thanked Amit Shah, whom he described as an election strategist, for attending the event after participating in the swearing-in ceremony of the BJP government in West Bengal.
He said Chitradurga was chosen for the celebration because of its historical and cultural significance, describing it as the land of Madakari Nayaka, Onake Obavva and several revered seers.
Vijayendra added that, for the first time in Karnataka’s history, several swamijis had come together on a single stage for such an event.
