New Karnataka CM: Leader will be finalised at legislature party meet, says Arun Singh
Bengaluru: A day after B S Yediyurappa resigned as Chief Minister, the BJP general secretary and Karnataka in charge Arun Singh said on Tuesday the name of the new leader will be finalised at the legislature party meeting on the direction of the parliamentary board.
"Whatever will be the decision of our party's parliamentary board, its direction regarding the name of the leader will be finalised at the legislature party meeting," Singh told reporters here.
The BJP has convened the legislature party meeting this evening at a private hotel here, which would be attended by central observers -- Union Ministers Dharmendra Pradhan and G Krishan Reddy.
Hailing Yediyurappa for giving good governance during his tenure, Singh said the party has been taking the guidance and benefit of his experience and will continue to do so in future.
"Yediyurappa has resigned. His government has worked excellently in Karnataka in the last two years and has worked for every section and sector.
His experience will be utilised in the party organisation and the government. The party will continue to benefit from his experience," Singh said.
He added that the BJP has been moving forward under the leadership, direction and experience of Yediyurappa and will continue to do so in future as well.

Three arrested for killing Buddhist woman monk in Himachal
Shimla (PTI): Three people have been arrested for allegedly murdering a Buddhist woman monk in Mandi district of Himachal Pradesh nearly a month ago, police said on Friday.
The accused -- Gagan Sharma (23), Vishal (23) and Gaurav Sharma (20), all residents of Mandi -- were arrested on Thursday night, police said.
According to police, the 78-year-old Buddhist woman monk, Orje Shoki, was found murdered in a cave near Sarkidhar village, following which a Special Investigation Team (SIT) was constituted to nab the accused.
Mandi Superintendent of Police (SP) Vinod Kumar said that during the investigation, more than 50 suspects were questioned and DNA samples of several suspects were also collected.
After a detailed investigation, the accused were arrested from different locations on Thursday night, he said.
Kumar said all the accused are drug addicts and they committed the crime with the intention of looting the victim, so that they could buy drugs.
Efforts are on to nab two more accused wanted in the case. They will be put behind bars soon, the SP said.
