Bengaluru: Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar emphasized his party's stance against BJP's 'Operation Lotus' and its welcoming approach toward those who align with their principles. He clarified that rather than pursuing an 'Operation Hasta,' they are extending a hand of support to others in the political arena.
During a press briefing in the city on Friday, Shivakumar stated, "I am working to counter 'Operation Lotus' and oppose the concept of 'Operation Hasta.' Our party warmly welcomes anyone who embraces our party's principles. Those who wish to join the Bharat Jodo campaign are also invited to come along."
The Deputy Chief Minister highlighted the dynamics of politics, where there are no permanent friends or enemies, and it requires skillful handling of various possibilities. He humorously referred to politics in Maharashtra as witnessing the formation of a 'washing machine party,' indicating that the BJP has collaborated with various politicians willing to support it.
Responding to questions regarding the River Cauvery water issue, Shivakumar emphasized the priority placed on the welfare of farmers and the provision of drinking water to the people. He acknowledged protests against releasing Cauvery water to Tamil Nadu but noted improvements in farmers' conditions in Bengaluru and Ramanagar districts due to recent rainfall.

According to the police, Mallikarjuna had failed the PSI examination twice and later falsely projected himself as a PSI. He allegedly conducted photo shoots in his hometown, Siraguppa, wearing a police uniform, baton, cap, and shoes, claiming to be serving as a PSI in Bengaluru.
On December 7, the four accused allegedly went to the house of Naveen in the Vidyaranyapura limits, threatened him with a stick and an iron rod, and claimed they had information that he was selling ganja. Under the pretext of searching, they allegedly extorted ₹87,000 through bank transfer, ₹53,000 in cash kept in the house, and ₹2,000 from his wallet.
Following Naveen’s complaint, Vidyaranyapura police registered a case and launched an operation, leading to the arrest of all four accused. Police have seized ₹45,000 in cash and the car used to commit the crime.
Further investigation is underway.
