Old Pension Scheme benefits for 13,000 employees in Karnataka: CM Siddaramaiah
Bengaluru: The Karnataka government Wednesday issued a notification to bring about its 13,000 employees, who were notified before April 1, 2006 but were appointed at a later date, under the Old Pension Scheme. Chief Minister Siddaramaiah posted on 'X' that he had made this promise to the government employees on a strike against the new pension scheme.
"Before the election, I visited the place where the employees were on a strike against the NPS and promised them to fulfil the demand after we come to power. I hope this decision has given comfort to all the families of 13,000 employees under NPS," he said.
Under the old pension scheme, a government employee is entitled to a monthly pension after retirement. The monthly pension is typically half of the last drawn salary of the person.

Under the new pension scheme, employees contribute a portion of their salaries to the pension fund. Based on that, they are entitled to a one-time lump sum amount on superannuation.
The old pension scheme was discontinued in December 2003, and the new pension scheme came into effect on April 1, 2004.

Delhi records high of 32.7 deg C; AQI remains 'moderate'
New Delhi (PTI): The maximum temperature in Delhi settled at 32.7 degrees Celsius on Sunday, 1.3 notches below the seasonal average, according to the India Meteorological Department.
The minimum temperature was recorded at 20.1 degrees Celsius on Sunday, 1.3 notches below the average for the season, while the relative humidity stood at 46 per cent at 5.30 pm, the IMD said.
The weather department has forecast a partly cloudy sky for Monday with the maximum and minimum temperatures expected to hover around 34 and 19 degrees Celsius, respectively.
The air quality remained 'moderate' at 4 pm, with an Air Quality Index (AQI) reading of 134, a slight drop from Saturday’s 137, Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB) data showed.
According to the CPCB, an AQI between zero and 50 is considered 'good', 51 and 100 'satisfactory', 101 and 200 'moderate', 201 and 300 'poor', 301 and 400 'very poor', and 401 and 500 'severe'.
