Hubballi (Karnataka), Dec 29: One more Ayyappa devotee who had sustained burns in a cylinder blast occurred here died on Sunday morning, taking the toll to six, police said.

 

Manjunath Waghmore (22), who died on Sunday, was among the nine Ayyappa devotees who sustained burns in a fire accident that occurred in the room where they were staying on December 24, police said. The accident was caused by a gas cylinder blast.

They were all rushed to the hospital and six of them died including Wagmore.

Police on Saturday night said that fifth Ayyappa devotee Shankar Chavan had died. Prakash Baraker, Tejeswar Satare, Vinayak Baraker are undergoing treatment in the hospital.

These devotees were planning to go to Ayyappa temple in Kerala together but tragedy struck them, killing six of them.

Davanagere: A youngster who was on the way to a New Year party with his friend died in an incident of bike-car collision in the city shortly past midnight on Wednesday.

The deceased youngster is identified as Karthik, a resident of Nituvalli Layout in the city.

Karthik was riding along with his friend to attend a New Year party late Tuesday night on the Nutan College Road in Vidyanagar in Davanagere city, where the car collided with the bike reportedly around 1 am on Wednesday.

While Karthik died in the road accident, his friend is learned to be grievously injured in the accident and undergoing treatment at a local hospital. The car driver, however, escaped from the accident scene. The bike was found to be completely damaged due to the intensity of the collision.

A case has been registered at the Vidyanagar Police Station. The police officers visited accident spot as a part of the investigation.
