Bengaluru: Karnataka assembly Speaker UT Khader responding to a question about a social media user condemning his attendance in a ‘Bhuta Kola’ (deity worship), stated that, “The President of our block had put an ‘Harake’ (an ask for divine favor) in accordance to his religion sentiments. It is our culture to respect their ‘Harake’ and attend the ‘Kola.’ The speaker was addressing the media at Vidhana Soudha on Saturday.
“What if someone scribbled on the social media, hundreds of people have shown acceptance to my move. History does not remember those who scribble on social media. History does not remember those who ask questions. History remembers only those who work and who give answers,” said Khader.
Khader further asserted that it is unnecessary to give importance to such criticism, highlighting that 99% of people fulfill their responsibilities by showing respect to all religions.
The Assembly Speaker had reportedly participated in a ‘Kola’ held in Panolibail near Bantwal, condemning which a Facebook user identified as ‘Salethur Faizee Al-Hamdani,’ had criticized Khader’s actions in his post.
