Parties must unite to protect traditional games and save 'Sanatana Dharma': Tejasvi Surya
Bengaluru: Bengaluru South MP and BJP Yuva Morcha President Tejasvi Surya on Sunday asked political parties to unite to save 'Sanatana Dharma', saying there are attempts by ''some forces with an agenda'' to stop traditional games such as 'Jallikattu' and 'Kambala'.
The 33-year-old MP was speaking on the second and last day of Kambala, the slush track buffalo race of coastal Karnataka and Kasaragod in neighbouring Kerala, which is happening in the state capital for the first time.
''We have seen that today some forces with various agendas are going to the courts and doing many things to stop our traditional games such as 'Jallikattu' and 'Kambala','' Surya said.
He said parties should rise above their political differences and unite to protect 'Jallikattu', 'Kambala' and the celebration of our festivals ''because our 'Sanatana Dharma' can be saved only if we save these games.'' According to the organisers, 178 participants and their buffaloes are taking part in the event.

Jharkhand: 3 arrested for 'raping' 2 women in Gumla
Gumla (PTI): Three persons were arrested on Monday for allegedly raping two women at a village in Jharkhand’s Gumla district, police said.
All the three accused have been remanded to judicial custody, Gumla Sadar Police Station officer-in-charge, Mahendra Karmali, told PTI.
According to police, one of the women had been called to Gumla Sadar by her boyfriend on Sunday for an outing.
“She arrived at the spot accompanied by a female. The woman’s boyfriend then called a friend, and they took the two women to a secluded place in Sisai police station area in the evening, forcibly made them consume alcohol before raping them,” the officer said.
The accused later called another man to the spot, who also allegedly raped the women, he said.
“The women later reached the Sadar Police Station and lodged a complaint on Sunday night. Police conducted raids and nabbed the three accused on Monday,” he added.
Further investigation is underway.
