Bengaluru: An FIR has been lodged against the shopkeeper involved in the altercation at Nagarthapete at the Halasuru Gate police station in Bengaluru. The incident, which sparked widespread attention, began with a dispute between the proprietor of a telecom shop and several youths who raised objections to the loud music from a speaker during Ramzan prayers.

The initial FIR was filed on March 17 against individuals including Sulieman, Shahnawaz, Rohith, Danish, Tarun, and others for allegedly assaulting Mukhesh, the owner of Krishna Telecom, located in Siddanna Galli of Nagarthapete. The altercation stemmed from a disagreement over the high volume of a loudspeaker at the shop during evening prayers. The accused were promptly apprehended with the assistance of CCTV footage capturing the incident.

However, the situation took a communal turn when Mukhesh claimed that the assailants objected to the playing of the 'Hanuman Chalisa' in his shop afterward. This assertion prompted BJP MPs Tejasvi Surya, Shobha Karandlaje, and PC Mohan to gather at the scene to protest against the assault, with demonstrators chanting the 'Hanuman Chalisa' in public.

A subsequent FIR, filed by Jabin, the father of Suleiman, one of the accused, alleges that his son and his companions had confronted Mukhesh regarding the loud music being played through his speakers for the past three days during prayers. The youths reportedly argued that the street is frequented by 3000 people daily during Ramzan prayers in the evening, and Mukhesh's actions were causing inconvenience to all of them. According to the FIR, Mukhesh proceeded to physically assault Suleiman and his group and verbally abuse them. The complainant has urged legal action to be taken against Mukhesh.

Jaipur (PTI): Five members of a family were burnt alive while the driver was seriously injured after a car caught fire on the Delhi-Mumbai Expressway in Rajasthan's Alwar district, police said on Thursday.

The incident took place near Maujpur on Wednesday night when the victims were returning from a pilgrimage to Vaishno Devi in Jammu and Kashmir.

Additional Superintendent of Police Priyanka Raghuvanshi said fire tenders were rushed to the spot and the blaze was brought under control in 15 minutes, but by then the car was completely gutted.

The deceased have been identified as Santosh, his wife Shashi, mother Parvati and daughters Raghani and Sakshi, all residents of Chainpura in Sheopur district of Madhya Pradesh.

Deputy Superintendent of Police Kailash Jindal said a short circuit is suspected to have triggered the blaze. As it was a CNG vehicle, the fire spread fast, leaving the occupants with no time to escape.

"Only skeletal remains were recovered from the vehicle, which have been preserved separately. DNA tests will be conducted to establish their identity," he said.

The car driver, identified as Vinod Kumar Mehar, managed to jump out of the vehicle but sustained around 80 per cent burn injuries. He was initially taken to a nearby health centre and later referred to Jaipur for advanced treatment, officials said.

Further investigation is underway.
