Sakleshpur: As the cops hunt for absconding rowdy sheeter and Bajrang Dal leader Raghu, who recently made a provocative speech against Muslims, additional police security has been provided in town to prevent untoward incidents.
The police have also closed the taluk borders to prevent the rowdy sheeter from escaping from Sakleshpur taluk.
Leading a protest rally by the Bajrang Dal in town on Friday, Raghu had said, “The Police Department has failed in stopping the slaughter of cows. Hindus, safeguard yourselves from Muslim vendors who come to your homes selling vegetable and fish. If necessary, shoot them.”
He added, “Minister Priyank Kharge had recently referred to ‘people from any Dal’ while addressing the policemen. I challenge him to openly say Bajrang Dal, we will show him the power of Bajrang Dal.”
The rowdy sheeter’s provocative speech had gone viral on media as well as social media, but drew widespread open objection too.

New Delhi (PTI): Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi on Saturday alleged the "Waqf Bill attacks Muslims" and "sets a precedent to target other communities in future".
In a post on microblogging site X, Gandhi shared an article which claimed that the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) has now shifted focus to Catholic Church land after the passage of Waqf Bill.
"I had said that the Waqf Bill attacks Muslims now but sets a precedent to target other communities in the future," he wrote on X.
"It didn't take long for the RSS to turn its attention to Christians," the Congress leader wrote referring to the article.
"The Constitution is the only shield that protects our people from such attacks -- and it is our collective duty to defend it," Gandhi wrote.
Congress leader KC Venugopal too shared another article pointing to Catholic Church surpassing Waqf Board in landholdings and said, "As predicted, first one minority targeted, now onto the next."
