Kalaburagi: The heads of two educational institutions in Afzalpur have been booked by the CID officers for their alleged involvement in a case of KEA question paper leak, and subjected to intensive questioning by the officers about the matter, before being presented before the JMFC Court here.

Cases have been booked against Chandrakanth Burakal, Lecturer and Principal In-charge of the Karjagi Government Pre-university College in Afzalpur taluk, and Basanna Poojari, Lecturer and Principal In-charge of the Government Pre-university College in Afzalpur town.

Three FDA examination centres had been set up in Afzalpur town, including the Mahanteshwar Vidyavardhaka Sangha, the Shivalingeshwara Education Society and the Royal Public School. Upon confirmation that the question paper leak had occurred at the Royal Public School, the CID officers have taken into custody Poojari and Burakal, who had been the Chief Superintendent of Royal Public School and currently posted as Principal In-charge.

Both the principals in-charge had claimed that they were innocent, when taken into CID custody earlier. The officers, however, have detained both the heads of institutions to continue the investigation of the question paper leak.

Gumla (PTI): Three persons were arrested on Monday for allegedly raping two women at a village in Jharkhand’s Gumla district, police said.

All the three accused have been remanded to judicial custody, Gumla Sadar Police Station officer-in-charge, Mahendra Karmali, told PTI.

According to police, one of the women had been called to Gumla Sadar by her boyfriend on Sunday for an outing.

“She arrived at the spot accompanied by a female. The woman’s boyfriend then called a friend, and they took the two women to a secluded place in Sisai police station area in the evening, forcibly made them consume alcohol before raping them,” the officer said.

The accused later called another man to the spot, who also allegedly raped the women, he said.

“The women later reached the Sadar Police Station and lodged a complaint on Sunday night. Police conducted raids and nabbed the three accused on Monday,” he added.

Further investigation is underway.
