Bengaluru, Dec 4: Tamil superstar Rajinikanth will not click in the southern state's politics, where the ethos of Dravidian culture has always manifested, senior Congress leader M Veerappa Moily claimed on Friday.
The former Union Minister recalled that the Congress could not get "independent existence" in Tamil Nadu and always aligned with either the AIADMK or DMK.
"I don't think the Rajinikanth politics will click because the ethos of Dravidian culture has always manifested in the politics of Tamil Nadu," Moily, who was in-charge of Congress affairs in Tamil Nadu several years ago, told here.
"Any political party in Tamil Nadu cannot survive without the affiliation to a Tamilian party, regional party," the former Karnataka Chief Minister said.
Moily said, Rajinikanth has already given an impression that he is more or less aligned with the "ideals" of the BJP, adding, "that's why it (his party) cannot take-off."
"Unless Rajinikanth again nurtures himself from out of the ethos of Dravidian culture, I don't think he will have any (political) future," he said.
Rajinikanth announced on Thursday he would launch a political party in January 2021 to contest in the Assembly elections in Tamil Nadu.

Jamshedpur(PTI): Jharkhand Police on Sunday recovered two bodies, including that of a woman, from separate lakes in Jamshedpur.
A woman’s body was found floating in Dimna Lake on the outskirts of the city within Boram police station limits, an officer said.
Locals at the picnic spot alerted police after spotting the body in the afternoon.
A bag found near the lake helped authorities identify the victim as 43-year-old Sanju Devi, a resident of Sonari.
Though the exact reason behind the death could not yet be ascertained, it seemed to be a case of suicide due to domestic discord, officer-in-charge of Boram police station Neeraj Kumar said.
In a separate incident, police recovered the body of 37-year-old Zeeshan Riyaz from Beldih Lake within Bistupur police station.
Riyaz had been missing since Friday evening.
Police said investigations are underway to determine the cause of death in both cases.
