Bengaluru, October 02: “Rama, Krishna, Ganesha whom we offer pooja are not Brahmins. But Ravana is from Brahmin community”, said Union Skills Development Minister Ananth Kumar Hegde.
Inaugurating a Sanskrit programme organized by the Mythri Sanskrit Samskriti Prathisthana at Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan in the city on Tuesday, the Union Minister said that Rama, Krishna, Ganapathi were not Brahmins. But Ravana was from Brahmin community. There was no temple for Ravana, but Rama, Krishna and Ganapathi have temples, he said.
“Sanskrit is not just a language. It is a power. Sanskrit is very essential to lead a cultured life. Sanskrit is the only language which accepted by computers. Europe and other countries have evinced interest in learning Sanskrit. But there is no value for Sanskrit in India. Sanskrit has its influence on majority of the languages in the world. Sanskrit is the medicine for immoral acts. But some vested interests have been trying to project Sanskrit as the language of Brahmins. So, there was no threat to the country from the illiterates or educated. But the country should be protected from the educated demons”, he said.
Those vested interests have been projecting Arya as a caste and they were emigrants who came from Middle Asia. But the word ‘Arya’ had come from the word ‘Aryan’ which means the best human being. But those who do not know this have been making false propaganda”, he alleged.
Film actors Lakshmi Gopalaswamy, Suchendra Prasad, businessman S Shadakshari, writer MS Narasimhamurthy and others were present.

Srinagar: In the aftermath of the devastating terrorist attack in Pahalgam that claimed the lives of 28 tourists and injured over 20 others, mosques across Jammu and Kashmir have united in condemning the violence. Imams during Friday prayers denounced the killings as "inhuman" and contrary to the teachings of Islam, offering prayers for the victims and urging authorities to ensure justice is served.
The attack occurred on April 22 in the Baisaran meadow near Pahalgam, where militants affiliated with The Resistance Front (TRF), an offshoot of Lashkar-e-Taiba, opened fire on a group of tourists. This incident marks one of the deadliest civilian attacks in the region since the revocation of Jammu and Kashmir's special status in 2019.
Religious leaders across the region have emphasised that such acts of violence are antithetical to Islamic principles.
The attack in #Pahalgam was strongly condemned from several mosques across #JammuAndKashmir.
