Bengaluru: A defamation case filed by IAS officer Rohini Sindhuri against IPS officer Roopa Moudgil was heard on Wednesday in the 5th ACMM Court in Bengaluru. During the proceedings, Judge Vijay Kumar Jatla advised both officers to consider a settlement instead of spending time in court. He also suggested that they read the book One Minute Apology.
The court expressed its willingness to facilitate a compromise between the two officers. "You are both senior officials with good reputations. Your time should be dedicated to serving society. Instead of spending it in court proceedings, consider a settlement," the judge said, before adjourning the hearing to February 12.
The conflict between Karnataka IAS officer Rohini Sindhuri and IPS officer D. Roopa began when Roopa shared Sindhuri’s photos on social media and made serious allegations. The dispute escalated through local courts, the High Court, and even reached the Supreme Court. However, even the Supreme Court could not resolve the matter and eventually directed them to settle it in the trial court.
Now, the 5th ACMM Court in Bengaluru has also attempted to mediate a settlement between the two officers, advising them with some words of caution and recommending One Minute Apology. It remains to be seen whether they will opt for a compromise or continue their legal battle.
