Bengaluru: A disturbing video depicting multilingual actor Prakash Raj being threatened with his life by an individual associated with the Sangh Parivar group is making rounds on the social networking platform, Facebook.
The video stems to a recent media interaction of Prakash Raj, where responding to a journalist's query in Shimoga, the actor shared his perspective on the Sowjanya rape case. He suggested that if the intelligence department has any concerns, it is reasonable to subject the priests to inquiry. This statement elicited opposition from Sangh Parivar activist Santosh Kartal.
In the video, Santosh Kartal can be heard issuing a threat to Prakash Raj, warning that unless the actor apologizes to religious leaders, he will face severe consequences. The threat includes a chilling ultimatum: "Your shroud will be lying in front of your house within 24 hours." Santosh Kartal then uploaded this ominous video on his Facebook account.
Reacting to the threat, Prakash Raj took to social media and tagged Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar, Home Minister Dr. G Parameshwar, and senior police officers and brought it to their notice. He expressed his concern with the message, "Nodrapa.. Uttara Kumaras.. are threatening to kill.. En Madana Vasi Yoli" (They are threatening to kill me).

Kolkata (PTI): West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee on Thursday described the Waqf (Amendment) Bill as “anti-secular”, claiming that it would snatch the rights of Muslims.
Banerjee, speaking in the assembly, also said the Centre did not consult with states over the matter.
“The bill is anti-federal and anti-secular; it is a deliberate attempt to malign a particular section. It will snatch the rights of Muslims... The Centre did not consult with us on the Waqf Bill,” she said.
The chief minister added that “if any religion was attacked”, she would wholeheartedly condemn it.
Opposition parties have stridently criticised the amendments proposed by the bill in the existing Waqf Act, alleging that they violate the religious rights of Muslims.
The ruling BJP has asserted that the amendments will bring transparency in the functioning of the Waqf boards and make them accountable.
A parliamentary committee has been constituted to scrutinise the contentious bill.
