Mysuru: Renowned Sarod player Pandit Rajeev Taranath breathed his last at Manipal Hospital in Mysuru on Tuesday evening. He was 93 years old.

About a month ago, Rajeev Taranath had fell at his home near Panchamantra Road in Kuvempu Nagar. As he had sustained a broken thigh bone injury in the accident, he had been hospitalized.

The funeral visitation is arranged from 9 am to 12 pm in the musician’s home in Kuvempu Nagar. It will be followed by the final rites, sources close to the family stated.

Mangaluru: Three educational institutions in the city on Monday received a hoax email threat claiming the presence of explosive materials on their premises.

According to sources, the email claiming presence of explosive material was received by Manipal School in Attavar under the Pandeshwar Police Station limits, Presidency and Cambridge School in Neermarga under the Mangaluru Rural Police Station limits.

Following the emails, various teams of the police department and the bomb disposal squad, reached the spot and conducted an inspection.

City Police Commissioner Anupam Agarwal after thorough inspections confirmed that the threats were false, and no suspicious objects were found at any of the schools.

“No suspicious objects were found in the school premises. Additional police personnel have been deployed in the schools for the safety of students and staff. Separate cases have been registered in connection with this incident,” Agarwal added.
