Vijayapura: Bringing glory, Savita Gotyal, a girl of the district has secured 626th rank in the country in UPSC exam. Native of the city, Gotyal, is younger sister of Ashwini Gotyal who has already cleared UPSC exam and presently serving in Police department in Punjab since last four years.
Taking inspiration from her sister, Savita decided to prepare for the top civil service exam and cleared it.
“I am so elated that both of my daughters have cracked the tough UPSC exam. My daughters have made me proud”, said Siddappa Gotyal, the father of Savita.
Having completed her primary education in a government school of Atharga village in Indi taluk in Kannada medium, she completed her high school from PDJ high school. Later, she joined PUC in JSS college in Dharwad and B.E in computer science from PES college in Bengaluru.
To prepare for UPSC, she shifted to Delhi where she underwent training for top civil service exam.
“I am glad that I always got suggestions and guidance from my sister during my course of preparation. She cleared UPSC in 2016 and 2017. I decided to follow her”, she said.
Interestingly her brother Kartik is also undergoing USPC training in Delhi. Kartik said that he was working as Engineer in Bengaluru, but later resigned and went to Delhi to prepare for UPSC. “ Even I wish to crack UPSC like my sisters”, he said.

Jhagadia (Bharuch) (PTI): At least 16 workers were injured after a massive fire broke out at a chemical factory in Gujarat's Bharuch district on Thursday afternoon, officials said.
The blaze erupted around 1 pm at Metropolitan Eximchem Pvt Ltd, located in the Jhagadia Gujarat Industrial Development Corporation (GIDC) area, Deputy Superintendent of Police Ajay Meena said.
At least 16 workers suffered injuries and were admitted to nearby hospitals for treatment. No fatalities have been reported so far, he said.
Emergency response teams and local police personnel rushed to the site after being alerted about the incident. Fire tenders and ambulances are also stationed at the spot, Meena said.
Efforts to douse the fire are still underway, he added.
In addition to the fire brigade personnel from Jhagadia, two fire tenders from the disaster prevention and management centre in Ankleshwar were deployed to assist in controlling the blaze, an official added.
Visuals from the scene showed thick plumes of smoke billowing into the sky, visible from a considerable distance.
