Shivmoga: Senior BJP leader and Shivmoga MLA K S Eshwarappa on Sunday submitted a complaint to the Shivmoga Superintendent of Police against a phone call he received. He alleged that the caller threatened him of life.

He alleged that he received calls from two numbers on his mobile phone on Saturday evening and added that the caller threatened of killing him while questioning why the BJP failed to give tickets to Muslim candidates in the state in forthcoming Lok Sabha Election.

He sought immediate action from the police department and an urgent investigation to find out the caller. He urged police to initiate strict action against the culprit while demanding stringent punishment for him.

BJP Shimoga District President Rudre Gowda, Deputy Mayor Channabasappa Jnaneswar, Nagaraj, DS Arun and others were present.

Bengaluru (PTI): The state government on Thursday decided to give a 14 month extension to Karnataka DGP M A Saleem.

Saleem was supposed to retire in June this year.

A notification issued by the Karnataka government granted him an extension till August 29, 2027.

"Dr M A Saleem, IPS, Director General and Inspector General of Police (Head of the Police Force), Karnataka, Bengaluru is continued as Director General and Inspector General of Police (Head of the Police Force), Karnataka, Bengaluru till 29-08-2027 or until further orders, whichever is earlier," the government notification said.

Saleem is the 43rd DGP of Karnataka, who assumed charge on May 21, 2025 replacing Alok Mohan following his retirement.
