Bengaluru, Sept 29: Eight people, including Yenepoya Medical College, have been chosen for the state government’s Senior Citizen Service Award, informed Minister of State for Women and Child Welfare Jayamala.

The awards, which carry Rs. 1 lakh cash each, will be presented at a ceremony that will be held at Ravindra Kalakshetra on October 1 during the World Senior Citizens' Day celebrations.

Literature- Nadoja Dr. P.S. Shankar of Kalaburagi district, Social service- Dr.Vijayalakshmi Deshmane, Mahadevi Hullur, Jagadamba, Education- Dr. B.V Kere Martande of Udupi district, Kalakshetra- Chindodi Bangaresh of Davangere, Sports- D.N. Sampath of Mandya District, Law- Sadashiva Siddappa Belagali of Bagalkot district has been elected; said a statement.
