Bengaluru: Former Karnataka Chief Minister and Congress MLC Jagadish Shettar addressing the press on Tuesday confirmed meeting with the BJP MLA Ramesh Jarkiholi.
Speaking to the reporters at his residence here, Shettar stated that he has met a lot of people in recent times. “I have also met Ramesh Jarkiholi, but I did not meet him today,” he clarified.
“ He met me on different occasions in two months. I can’t say no to those who come. When I go to other places, I meet him because I have an old relationship with him. I have not discussed politics with him, he has not made that effort either. This is just a natural meeting,” he added.
Meanwhile, Shettar has clarified that he doesn't intend to join the Bharatiya Janata Party. He said, “When I joined the Congress party, I came with the determination not to go back to the BJP. Nobody asked me to quit Congress and join BJP.”
The senior leader had deserted the Bharatiya Janata Party in April this year to join the Indian National Congress after being denied to contest in the Karnataka assembly elections. However, Shettar who contested the election from the Hubli-Dharwad Central constituency under the Congress ticket lost to BJP's Mahesh Tenginakai by a huge margin.

Washington DC: The White House has reportedly ruled out the use of nuclear weapons against Iran, even as uncertainty continues over ongoing peace negotiations and a deadline set by US President Donald Trump approaches.
Issues bout a possible escalation had increased after US Vice President JD Vance said that the United States has “tools in our toolkit that we so far haven’t decided to use” in dealing with Iran.
His remarks came amid rising tensions and ahead of a deadline linked to peace efforts.
The situation has attracted attention as Trump warned Iran that its “whole civilization will die tonight tonight” if an agreement is not reached by Tuesday at 8 pm.
This statement led to speculation about the possibility of extreme military measures, including a nuclear strike.
Following Vance’s comments, the White House issued a clarification distancing itself from such interpretations. In a post on X, it said, "Literally nothing @VP said here 'implies' this, you absolute buffoons." In a later statement, it added that “only the president knows” what action will be taken regarding Iran.
