Shimoga: The police reportedly shot an accused in his leg after he tried to assault them with a knife during an arrest operation related to a case. The accused identified as Aslam was shot in his left leg, it is learned.
After receiving verified information that the accused was at the extension constructed on Purale road, the Doddapete station police undertook an arrest operation to apprehend him. The police team led by the Doddapete station PSI Vasanth had arrived at the site to arrest the accused, where Aslam allegedly assaulted a police staff named Ramesh with a knife.
While Aslam tried to flee from the scene, PSI Vasanth is said to have issued a verbal warning and later shot him in the leg. The gunshot had injured the accused’s left leg, sources with police have informed.
The injured police staff Ramesh and the accused Aslam were admitted to the hospital, where both received treatment for their injuries.
Reportedly, Aslam has a history of criminal activity and 9 cases registered against him in various police stations, the sources with the police revealed.

Sent in to bat, RCB rode on a fighting half-century by skipper Rajat Patidar (63) to post 201 for 8.

In reply, Sooryavanshi (78 off 26 balls) and Dhruv Jurel (81 not out off 43 balls) shared a 37-ball 108-run partnership for the second wicket to set the platform. Krunal Pandya (2/30) tried to bring them back with back-to-back wickets.
But Jurel, in the company of Ravindra Jadeja (24), completed the task with another 68-run stand, with two overs to spare.
For RR, Jofra Archer (2/33), Ravi Bishnoi (2/32) and Brijesh Sharma (2/37) took two wickets.
