Shivanogga: Villagers around Varahi Power Project area in Hosanagar Taluka reported that they felt mild tremors in the wee hours of Sunday (3 February).
Around 1 a.m, villagers heard a huge sound for a couple of seconds, which led to the household items including utensil in homes fell down, causing sudden panic among the residents.
Official sources confirmed the reports and added that tremors were recorded in Megaravalli, Hanasa, Karunapura, Gadtagadde, Shuntihaklu, Yadur, Sunnadamane, Halige, and adjoining villages. The magnitude of tremors were recorded 2.2 on Richter scale.

Mangaluru: In a major relief for last-minute shoppers ahead of Ramadan, Mangaluru City Police Commissioner Sudheer Kumar Reddy on Thursday announced that shops have been granted permission to operate till 12 midnight.
He made the announcement while speaking to the media in the city.
“Many people had requested to keep shops open till midnight on Thursday. Accordingly, shops in the Mangaluru Police Commissionerate have been allowed to remain open till 12 midnight today (Thursday),” he said.
