Shivamogga: Congress announces candidates for 3 constituencies; names for 4 awaited
Shivamogga: The Congress has released its first list of candidates for the 2023 Assembly elections, with the names of 124 candidates, including for three constituencies in Shivamogga district.
Madhu Bangarappa will contest from Sorab constituency, B K Sangameshwara from Bhadravathi and Belur Gopalakrishna from Sagar, as per the list.
The names of candidates for four constituencies of the district are awaited – Theerthahalli, Shimoga, Shimoga Rural and Shikaripura.
The large number of hopefuls for tickets from Shimoga and Shimoga Rural is assumed to be the reason for the delay in decision of the party high command.
The leaders of the Congress are also assumed to be taking time to decide on the candidate for Shikaripura, since the constituency is a stronghold of former Karnataka Chief Minister B S Yediyurappa.

US–Iran first round direct talks conclude in Islamabad: Report

The first round of direct talks between the United States and Iran, held in Islamabad, has concluded, Al Jazeera reported citing sources close to the development.
According to the report, following the discussions, delegations from both sides agreed to exchange written documents, a move aimed at ensuring clarity and consensus on the understandings reached during the meeting.
Both the Iranian and US delegations arrived in Islamabad on Saturday, April 11, amid high security for the peace talks.
