Shivamogga: A disturbing act of animal cruelty has been reported from Thotadakoppa village in Vijayapura, located in the Hosanagara taluk of Shivamogga district, where miscreants allegedly mutilated the udder of a cow that was left out to graze.

The owner of the cow, Naveen, filed a complaint with the Hosanagara Police Station. According to his statement, “As usual, we had let our cattle out to graze. Around 4:30 PM on Saturday, some villagers called to inform us that one of our cows was bleeding from its udder. We rushed to the spot and found that the 9-year-old Malenadu Gidda breed cow was indeed bleeding heavily from its udder. It appeared that someone had deliberately cut it.”

With the help of fellow villagers, Naveen brought the injured cow back home and arranged treatment by a veterinary doctor, who stitched the wound.

He has demanded legal action against the unidentified culprits. A formal complaint has been registered at the Hosanagara Police Station, and an investigation is underway.
