Shivamogga: A quarrel between two cousins over a long-standing personal grudge turned fatal on Wednesday night in Indira Gandhi Layout, when a 27-year-old man was stabbed to death by his relative.
The deceased has been identified as Janardhan, a resident of Bannikere near Kommanalu in the taluk, who worked as a cook at a city-based restaurant. The accused, Hanumantha (26), is his uncle’s son.
According to police, Hanumantha had sustained a leg injury in a bike accident about five years ago and was left with a limp. Janardhan allegedly mocked him frequently over this, which is said to have created tension between the two.
On Wednesday night, the dispute escalated and Hanumantha reportedly stabbed Janardhan multiple times. The injured was rushed to a private hospital, but he succumbed to his injuries during treatment. His body was later shifted to the McGann Hospital mortuary.
Vinobanagar Police have registered a case in connection with the incident. Hanumantha has been taken into custody and is being interrogated.
