Bengaluru, Oct 23: The state government is thinking of implementing load-shedding across the state following the shortage of coal in major power plants in the state.

It has been reported that the state government has come up with load shedding plans ahead of Diwali. There will be load-shedding in Bangalore city for two hours a day — one hour each during the peak hours in the morning and evening and two or three hours in other parts of the state.

As the state's major power producing unit Raichur is facing the shortage of coal, its two divisions have shut for last one week. A few days ago, Chief Minister H.D. Kumaraswamy had written to the Union government to immediately supply the coal.

The CM had expressed concern with the Union Minister of State for Petroleum and Natural Gas Piyush Goyal that a major problem would occur if the required amount of coal is not provided to the state. Even after that, the required amount of coal has not been provided to the state. Electricity is being produced at RTPs from the stored coal. Consequently, the KPTCL officials have requested the government to do the load shedding.

While the meeting was officially termed a "courtesy call", the optics of established national party representatives engaging with the fledgling party’s top brass suggest a strategic warming of ties.

Insiders indicate that the discussions touched upon the prevailing political climate in Tamil Nadu, though both camps have remained tight-lipped regarding specific tactical understandings.

The visuals go viral, even as TVK followers are getting ready for the swearing-in of their 'Thalapathy' on May 7.
