Bengaluru: Senior freedom fighter HS Doreswamy has urged the state government to conduct an impartial inquiry into the alleged irregularities in the Avadhoota Datta Peetham of Mysuru and justice must be provided to the victims by closing down the ashram.
Addressing a press conference here, he said that the Ashram has branches in Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh, and other states. Unmarried women are staying illegally in all the ashrams. Ganapati Sachidananda Swamiji of Datta Petham is fond of the foreign culture. Hence, Our primary culture is being sidelined in the name of Hindu religion.
“Women and girls are being treated inappropriately in the ashram. The state government should immediately order the probe against such Swamis and Ashrams who are abusing the religious sentiments of the people,” Doreswamy alleged.
High Court lawyer SS Ravishankar, social activist Mahesh Reddy, lawyers Raghavendra were present.

Pakistani terrorist killed as army foils infiltration bid in J-K

Srinagar (PTI): The army on Sunday said that it has foiled an infiltration bid along the Line of Control in Uri sector of Jammu and Kashmir, killing a Pakistani terrorist.
"Based on a specific intelligence input provided by #JKP regarding an infiltration attempt, a joint operation was launched on intervening night of 14-15 Mar 26 in Gen area Buchhar, Uri sector," Srinagar-based Chinar Corps of the Army posted on its X handle.
It said troops spotted suspicious movement of a terrorist in the thicket.
"The ambush was readjusted and the terrorist was challenged resulting in terrorist opening indiscriminate fire. In the Contact a Pak terrorist was eliminated. Warlike stores including an AK rifle, pistols and large quantity of ammunition have been recovered," the army said.
The operation was going on till last reports came in.
