Bengaluru: Leader of the Opposition in the Karnataka Assembly Siddaramaiah tweeted on Tuesday alleging that NDTV had provided false information on his statement on the chief ministerial candidate in a recent interview.
Siddaramaiah, who shared a screenshot of the NDTV report on his Twitter handle, said, “News article published by @ndtv (Adani TV), alleging that I had commented about Chief Minister candidate in Karnataka, is far from truth.”
He added that he had never made such comments and would never indulge in petty politics. He also demanded that NDTV issue a clarification and delete the post.
On Tuesday, NDTV reported that Siddaramaiah, in an exclusive interview with the channel, had said, “I am also an aspirant, DK Shivakumar is also an aspirant for the CM post.” The former chief minister added that the Congress High Command would not give the post to Shivakumar, who is president of Karnataka Congress.
AICC General Secretary for Karnataka Randeep Singh Surjewala also tweeted against the NDTV post, sharing the video of the interview and a screenshot of the report.
He tweeted, “As BJP crumbles in #Karnataka & BJP MLA’s & MLC’s resign everyday, BJP uses Mr. Adani’s NDTV to create fake fissures amongst Congress leaders.”
He added, “Time to stop the hatchet job & take care of BJP’s sinking ship. The #40PercentSarkara has to pay for its sins. Even TV can’t save it.”
