Siddaramaiah, DKShi among Congress leaders detained during rally for SC/ST reservation in Bengaluru

Bengaluru: The City Police took into custody Congress leaders who staged a protest opposing the delay in a hike in reservation for SC/ST applicants in the education and employment fields.

The Congress leaders undertook a rally from the KPCC office till the Raj Bhavan on Friday, but were stopped midway by the police.

Leader of the Opposition in the Karnataka Assembly Siddaramaiah, KPCC President DK Shivakumar and G Parameshwara were among the leaders taken into custody.

“In the backdrop of a mega rally by the Congress, the BJP government took hasty action in the matter of SC/ST reservation, attempting to silence us,” alleged the protesters.

US–Iran first round direct talks conclude in Islamabad: Report

The first round of direct talks between the United States and Iran, held in Islamabad, has concluded, Al Jazeera reported citing sources close to the development.

According to the report, following the discussions, delegations from both sides agreed to exchange written documents, a move aimed at ensuring clarity and consensus on the understandings reached during the meeting.

Both the Iranian and US delegations arrived in Islamabad on Saturday, April 11, amid high security for the peace talks.
