Bengaluru: The official Toyota Fortuner car used by Chief Minister Siddaramaiah has been flagged for seven traffic violations since the beginning of 2024, according to data recorded by Bengaluru’s Intelligent Traffic Management System (ITMS).
Sources within the traffic police department, quoted by Deccan Herald, stated that the cumulative fines for all seven violations have now been paid. The payments were made under the state government's ongoing 50 percent discount scheme on traffic penalties.
Six of the seven violations pertain to the Chief Minister not wearing a seat belt while occupying the front seat of his official vehicle. These instances were captured at key traffic junctions across the city, including Leela Palace junction on Old Airport Road, where the first violation was recorded on January 24. Repeat violations occurred at the same location in February and August, while additional infractions were recorded at Chandrika Hotel junction in March, and at Sivananda Circle and Dr Rajkumar Road junctions in August.
The fines were settled at Rs 2,500, a figure calculated after the discount was applied, the report added.
Apart from the seat belt-related offences, the Chief Minister’s car was also recorded by the ITMS for a speeding violation on July 9 along the Kempegowda International Airport Express Corridor.

Dhaka (PTI): Tarique Rahman was sworn in as the new Prime Minister of Bangladesh on Tuesday, days after leading his party to a forceful victory in the crucial general elections.
President Mohammed Shahabuddin administered the oath of office to 60-year-old Rahman at the South Plaza of the Jatiya Sangsad instead of Bangabhaban, in a departure from a long-standing tradition.
Earlier in the day, Rahman was elected as leader of the parliamentary party by the Bangladesh Nationalist Party lawmakers.
Rahman's BNP has bagged 209 out of 297 seats, while right-wing Jamaat-e-Islami secured 68 seats in the 13th Parliamentary elections. Deposed premier Sheikh Hasina's Awami League was barred from contesting polls.
