Bengaluru: Six men who allegedly barged into the house of a rowdy-sheeter’s friend in Rajgopal Nagar when he was there and attacked him with rods and machetes recently, were arrested by the city police on Monday.
The arrested men are Ramesh (also called Balilu), who is 25 years old; Saketa, 30; Tejash (Tiger), 30; Deekshit, 22; Aruna, 25; and Vijayakumar (Viji), 20, from a bus stop near Laggere, all of whom have prior criminal records, the police said on Tuesday.
The six men had a disagreement with a former associate Narendra, also called Dasa, who is a rowdy-sheeter from Nandini Layout. Narendra was reportedly at his friend’s house in Rajgopal Nagar on Thursday, when the group of six men forced its way into the house and attacked him as well as his friends in the house, before escaping.
Narendra filed a police complaint about the attack with the Rajgopal Nagar Police the next day.
A senior officer said that the three separate teams, led by three sub-inspectors, were formed for the investigation. The probe had revealed that the six men, who were earlier in the same gang as Narendra, had attacked him over an old internal rivalry, as the gang had split recently.
An FIR has been filed at the Rajgopal Nagar police station under IPC sections for attempted murder and criminal intimidation, and the Arms Act.

Tumakuru (PTI): Karnataka Home Minister G Parameshwara on Saturday said his recent remarks on the demolition of properties linked to those involved in narcotics trade were "misunderstood and misinterpreted".
His clarification follows remarks made two days ago on the government's uncompromising crackdown on the drug menace, including action against properties linked to foreign nationals allegedly involved in drug trafficking.
"It is unfortunate. It is taken in the wrong sense. I didn't mean that tomorrow itself I am going to send bulldozers and demolish the houses. That was not my intention. It was wrongly taken," he told reporters here.
Responding to Congress MLC K Abdul Jabbar's question in the legislative council on the growing drug menace in Bengaluru, Davangere and coastal districts, the minister on Thursday detailed the extensive enforcement measures initiated since the Congress government assumed office.
Pointing to the involvement of some foreign nationals, the minister had said, "Many foreign students from African countries have come to Karnataka. They are into the drug business. We catch them and register cases against them, but they want the case to be registered because once the case is registered, we cannot deport them."
"We have gone to the extent of demolishing the rented building where they stay," he had said.
