Six-year-old boy dies of snakebite in Kalaburagi
Kalaburagi: A six-year-old boy died of snakebite on Tuesday, when he was sleeping at home in Gola (K) village of Shahabad taluk in the district.
Naveen, son of Murugendra Badigera and studying in Class 1 at the Government Primary School in the village, was the victim of snakebite, according to sources.
The six-year-old boy returned home from school Tuesday afternoon and, after lunch, was having a nap. He was reportedly bitten on the ear twice, by the snake.
The child was rushed to the Shahabad government hospital for first aid and then to the Kalaburagi district hospital for further treatment. Naveen apparently did not respond to the treatment and died, the sources said.
A case has been registered at the Shahabad Police Station.

Thumbay Psychiatric and Rehabilitation Hospital will be developed in two phases. Phase 1 includes 60 inpatient beds and 12 outpatient clinics (OPDs) and Phase 2 adds another 60 beds, bringing the total capacity to 120 beds. Construction is set to begin in June 2025, with the hospital expected to be operational by mid-2026.
