Bengaluru: The Karnataka government has announced holidays for all government and aided schools across the state until October 18 in view of the ongoing Social and Educational Survey.
Chief Minister Siddaramaiah and Deputy Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar chaired a review meeting at Vidhana Soudha on Tuesday to assess the progress of the survey being conducted by the Karnataka State Commission for Social and Educational Development.
Speaking to reporters after the meeting, CM Siddaramaiah said, “The Social, Educational and Economic Survey, which began on September 2, was scheduled to conclude today. Based on discussions between the Education Department and the Commission for Backward Classes, and considering the request by MLC Puttanna and teachers’ associations seeking an extension, the government has decided to declare holidays for government and aided schools till October 18.”
He added that since the II PUC mid-term examinations will commence on October 12, PU lecturers have been exempted from survey duties.
