Shivamogga: The Shivamogga District Superintendent of Police GK Mithun Kumar has declared as fake the news going viral on social media that a Muslim youngster had died in a police encounter in Ragigudda in the wake of the recent stone-pelting incident in town on Sunday.
Speaking to reporters in the city on Tuesday, the SP said, "The news that a police encounter took place in Ragigudda to control the chaotic situation too is fake, but both news are being shared and have gone viral on social media. We have filed an FIR against the people who are the source of the false information relating to the incident on social media."
The police officer also requested the people not to pay heed to rumours on the untoward incident in Ragigudda. "Please confirm the accuracy of the information you get about the incident and hold back from sharing any message or news you get on social media without such confirmation. The police officers' team is still investigating the matter and yet to reach a conclusion," SP said.

US rules out use of nuclear weapons against Iran
Washington DC: The White House has reportedly ruled out the use of nuclear weapons against Iran, even as uncertainty continues over ongoing peace negotiations and a deadline set by US President Donald Trump approaches.

This statement led to speculation about the possibility of extreme military measures, including a nuclear strike.
Following Vance’s comments, the White House issued a clarification distancing itself from such interpretations. In a post on X, it said, "Literally nothing @VP said here 'implies' this, you absolute buffoons." In a later statement, it added that “only the president knows” what action will be taken regarding Iran.
