Bengaluru: Amidst speculation about the potential return of MLA ST Somashekhar to the Congress party, Karnataka Home Minister Dr. G Parameshwar said the party would welcome him if he decides to return.
“The former Bengaluru District Congress President has a history of dedicated involvement with the Congress, and if his return materializes, it would mark a significant development,” Parameshwar said while clarifying that he has not engaged with Somashekhar on this matter.
Addressing the issue, Dr. G. Parameshwar shared insights during a press interaction in the city on Thursday. "During my tenure as the KPCC president, I entrusted him with the role of Bengaluru District Congress President. He was an MLA under the Congress banner. If he had remained with the Congress, he could have got a ministerial position."
Dr. Parameshwar acknowledged the dynamic nature of politics and the malleability of political affiliations. "Politics is akin to flowing water; possibilities are diverse," Dr. Parameshwar affirmed.
In response to a question concerning actor Upendra's recent controversial statement, Dr. Parameshwar disclosed that Upendra has acknowledged his mistake and expressed remorse. The legal process is currently underway, and the police will take necessary actions. Dr. Parameshwar underlined the principle of equality under the law, emphasizing that this applies to all individuals, regardless of their status, such as Upendra and Minister Mallikarjun.
