Tiruppur: The headmistress of a government school in Dharapuram taluk of Tiruppur district has been suspended and subsequently arrested following allegations of compelling two Dalit students to clean school toilets.

Headmistress Ilamati Ishwari, herself belonging to the Scheduled Caste Periyar community, purportedly instructed two girl students from the Scheduled Caste Arunthathiyar community to clean the toilets. A video capturing the incident surfaced online, reportedly recorded by a custodian of Ambedkar Padippagam (library).

While denying the accusations, Ishwari claimed that external elements manipulated the situation by exploiting the two girls. However, the school education department took immediate action, suspending Ishwari pending investigation.
