Mysuru: A controversy broke out on Thursday over the will of noted writer S.L. Bhyrappa. According to a copy of the will shown by one Phaneesh to former MP Pratap Simha, Bhyrappa had reportedly stated that his sons Uday Shankar and Ravishankar should not perform his last rites. Instead, he had directed that the cremation be carried out by Sudarshan, a resident of House No. 61, Durganagar Layout, Uttarahalli–Kengeri Road, along with his wife Sahana Vijaykumar.

The situation turned tense after some people insisted that the funeral should be conducted strictly as per the will. During this time, police attempted to take Phaneesh into custody. Objecting to this, Phaneesh argued, “I only conveyed what Bhyrappa himself had written. What wrong have I done?”

This led to an argument between him and the police, creating a brief spell of tension at the spot.
