Bengaluru: The Third Foundation Day of the Indian Communication Congress (ICC) was celebrated at ST PAULS COLLEGE, on Tuesday, February 4, 2025.

The event featured Professor BK Ravi, Executive Chairman of the Indian Communication Congress (ICC) and Vice-Chancellor of Koppal University, along with Dr. Uma Shama, Professor of Mathematics and Co-Director of GeoGraphics Lab at Bridgewater State University, Massachusetts, as the Chief Guests.

Speaking at the event, Fr. Thomas MJ, Principal of ST PAULS COLLEGE, expressed his pleasure and gratitude to host the prestigious ‘Third Foundation Day of Indian Communication Congress.’ He also stressed on the importance of promoting media education in the country and highlighted the role played by St Pauls in the field of Journalism.

Prof. BK Ravi, reflecting on the English language skills of Bangalore University students, remarked, “South Indians have the best English accent and can have direct one-on-one conversations with citizens of the United States and the United Kingdom.” He also highlighted the media's potential to create both positive change and societal disruption.

Dr. Uma Shama, during her address, raised concerns about the effective use of Artificial Intelligence (AI). She posed the question, “Is the intended message being successfully communicated through AI? If not, how can we claim that communication is effective?” She encouraged the youth to explore their potential contributions to the evolving AI industry.

The Chief Patrons of the event were Fr. Dr. Thomas MJ, Principal, and Fr. Dr. Shaiju Joseph, Vice Principal and Administrator of ST PAULS COLLEGE, Bengaluru.
The program narration was handled by Jeni Susan Biji, a second-year MA Journalism and Mass Communication student. The vote of thanks was delivered by Ms. Ananya N K, Assistant Professor, Department of Journalism and Mass Communication.

The event was coordinated by Dr. Prashanth V, Head of the Department of Journalism and Mass Communication, along with Ms. Ananya NK, Assistant Professor of ST PAULS COLLEGE.

Mumbai (PTI): Royal Challengers Bengaluru skipper Rajat Patidar, Phil Salt and Virat Kohli blasted half-centuries as the defending champions beat Mumbai Indians by 18 runs in an Indian Premier League match here on Sunday.

Salt (78 off 36 balls) and Kohli (50 off 38 balls) stitched together a 120-run stand for the opening wicket before Patidar scored a rapid 53 off just 20 balls as RCB posted 240 for 4.

In response, Mumbai Indians were restricted to 222 for 5, with RCB spinner Suyash Sharma (2/47) putting the skids on the home side with a double strike in the eighth over, from which they could not recover.

Sherfane Rutherford top-scored for MI with an unbeaten 71 off 31 balls.

While opener Rohit Sharma appeared to be struggling with a hamstring issue and had to retire hurt on 19, his partner Ryan Rickelton made 37, while Suryakumar Yadav (33) and Hardik Pandya (40) were the other contributors for MI.
