Mysuru: Three persons of a family on Monday attempted suicide by jumping in a river here. While one of the person died of suicide, two others were rescued and were shifted to hospital for treatment.

The incident was reported from Nanjanagondu Taluk in Mysuru district where a mother, her daughter and granddaughter attempted suicide by jumping into the river.

The three were reportedly residents of JSS Layout in Mysuru.

The deceased woman has been identified as Rashmi (35) while her mother Ankamma and daughter were rescued and shifted to hospital.

The exact reason that prompted the family to take the extreme step, is yet to be ascertained. A case has been registered at Nanjanagondu Rural Police Station in this regard.
