Bengaluru: A day after BJP Rajya Sabha member and Sandalwood actor Jaggesh surrendered his golden tiger claw locket to the forest officials, the former has moved to the high court on Thursday, questioning the operation of the department, which according to him searched his residence premises in the case of him wearing a tiger claw locket. The actor's plea is yet to be heard.

In an operation on Wednesday, the forest department officials arrived at the residences of Sandalwood actors Darshan, Jaggesh, and JD(S) leader Nikhil Kumaraswamy. All three voluntarily surrendered their lockets to the department. After examination, Bengaluru Deputy Conservator of Forests, Ravindra confirmed that the pendants belonging to Darshan and Nikhil were replicas. However Jaggesh's locket was sent for further scrutiny to a laboratory in Dehradun to ascertain its age.

In his petition, Jaggesh alleges that the forest officials initiated the operation without waiting for his response to their notice. He also claims that the notice issued by the forest officer should be revoked. Prior to his reply to the notice, a team of 14 officers conducted a search of his house.

"They ransacked the entire house and treated me in a humiliating manner, referring to my statements from an old interview," the petition added. He further demanded that forest department officials' actions should be termed illegal.
