Bengaluru: The state government is set to observe 'Mask Day' on Thursday (June 18) to create awareness among the people to control the spread of novel coronavirus in the state.

In the last few days, the epidemic has been on the rise in Bengaluru City and the state. CM BS Yediyurappa held discussed the scenario in detail with officials on Monday in this regard. Speaking to reporters after the meeting, he informed about the decision that was taken during the meeting to observe Mask Day.

“The “Mask Day” would be launched by organizing a walk across the state and the main event will be held at Vidhana Soudha, the state secretariat. Film stars and athletes will be participating in the event. The government's objective behind this event is to create awareness among the people”, he said.

The government has decided to observe Mask Day not only in Bengaluru but also in districts, taluks across the state. Wearing masks is mandatory to control the spread of the virus. Instructions have been given to take strict action against people who do not wear masks. Rs. 200 fine will be imposed in the initial stage on violators.

Lucknow, Apr 30: Lucknow Super Giants beat Mumbai Indians by four wickets in the IPL here on Tuesday.
