Tumakuru: A tragic road accident claimed the lives of a mother and her two sons when their bike collided with a tractor near Obalapura Gate in Tumakuru taluk early this morning.
The deceased have been identified as Mumtaz (38) and her sons Muhammad Asif (12) and Shakir Hussain (22), residents of Gondihalli village, Puravar hobli, Madhugiri taluk.
The family was reportedly travelling from Tumakuru to their village when the accident occurred. It is suspected that the dense morning fog obscured the tractor ahead, leading to the collision. The impact of the accident was so severe that Shakir Hussain’s helmet flew off and landed inside the tractor's trailer.
A case has been registered at the Kora police station. SP Ashok Venkat, DySP Chandra Sekhar, and Rural CPI visited the site and conducted an inspection.

Shivamogga: A 17-year-old student from Kamakshi Street in the city, Prem Kumar, died of drowning while swimming in River Tunga in Pillangiri village of the taluk recently.
Prem, who was studying in II PUC at DVS College, was visiting the temple in Pillangiri with his friends and got into the river for a swim, when he drowned in the waters of the river.
The youngster’s body has been sent to the mortuary of the McGann Hospital in Shivamogga to conduct a post-mortem examination.
Shivamogga Rural Police visited the spot and held an inspection.
