Turuvekere: Dalit youth assaulted by gang
Tumkur, Aug 02: A gang brutally assaulted a Dalit youth at Mayasandra in Turuvekere taluk here on last night.
The victim has been identified as Sachin (30). The youth was attacked while he was returning home by car on Wednesday night. Four assailants approached him on bike and intercepted his car on the pretext of asking an address. They then pulled Sachin out of the four-wheeler and assaulted him. They left the injured Sachin and escaped when a KSRTC bus came on that road.
Seriously injured Sachin has been admitted to a government hospital in Turuvekere. A case has been registered at Turuvekere police station regarding the incident.

Deeply distressed by loss of lives in Odisha hospital fire incident: President Murmu
New Delhi (PTI): President Droupadi Murmu on Monday condoled the loss of lives in the fire incident at a hospital in Odisha and prayed for a speedy recovery of the injured.
At least ten patients were killed after a major fire erupted in an ICU in Odisha government-run SCB Medical College and Hospital, Cuttack, in the wee hours of Monday, Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi said.
"Deeply distressed by the loss of lives in the tragic fire incident at a hospital in Cuttack, Odisha. My heartfelt condolences to the bereaved families. I wish a speedy recovery to those injured," Murmu said in a post on X.
