Bengaluru: The cybercrime wing of the Central Crime Branch has arrested two men for allegedly posting obscene messages and derogatory comments about Vijayalakshmi, the wife of actor Darshan, on social media.

The arrested accused have been identified as Chandrashekhar (45), an autorickshaw driver from Chikkabanavara, and Nithin (31), a software engineer from Davanagere.

According to the police, Vijayalakshmi had earlier complained that obscene posts and abusive comments were being made about her and her family members on social media platforms. She had approached the Bengaluru City Police Commissioner’s office and sought action against around 18 social media accounts involved in the alleged abuse.

Following her complaint, an FIR was registered at the cybercrime police station of the CCB, and an investigation was taken up. Based on the inquiry, the police traced the accused and arrested two of them.

The CCB police said the accused are being questioned further as part of the investigation, and action will continue against other social media accounts involved in the case.

Baramati (PTI): The last rites of Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar, killed in a plane crash, will be held with full state honours on Thursday in Baramati, Pune district.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Home Minister Amit Shah are expected to attend the funeral, which will be held at Vidya Pratishthan ground at 11 AM. Leaders cutting across the political spectrum will be present, the Nationalist Congress Party said.

The plane crash occurred in the morning shortly after Ajit Pawar and four other persons took off from Mumbai.

Besides Pawar, his Personal Security Officer, an attendant, and two crew members (pilot in command and the first officer) were also killed.

Pawar is survived by wife Sunetra, a member of the Rajya Sabha, and two sons, Parth and Jay.

The state government declared a public holiday on Wednesday and announced a three-day period of state mourning.
