Shivamogga: Two individuals have been named in a case registered under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act and Atrocities Act for their alleged involvement in the rape of a minor girl after administering a sleeping drug.

The accused have been identified as Ajay (32) and Shabas (26), both residents of Sagar.

According to the police complaint, the accused had reportedly built a relationship with the minor girl, who was known to them. Subsequently, they allegedly took her on a trip and allegedly administered sleeping pills before raping her.

The case was filed at the Sagar Town Police Station in the Shivamogga district. The accused, however, are currently at large and efforts are underway to locate and arrest them.

New Delhi (PTI): The National Investigation Agency on Thursday conducted searches at 22 locations in six states to probe a human trafficking syndicate luring youth to work in call centres engaged in cyber frauds, officials said.

They said the searches were being conducted in Bihar, Uttar Pradesh, and Delhi among other places.

The case, which was registered by police in Gopalganj in Bihar, relates to an organised syndicate luring and trafficking Indian youth to foreign countries on the pretext of jobs and forcing them to work in fake call centres engaged in cyber fraud.
