Bengaluru: Veteran Kannada actress SK Padmadevi who was also a part of first talkie film of Sandalwood passed away on Thursday while battling age related ailments. She was 95.
Born in 1924, Padma Devi has worked with notable actors of theatre including M Subba Rao, BS Raja Iyengar and others.
SK Padmadevi played the female lead in Samsara Nouka and was part of the films like Vasantasena, Jaatakaphala, Bhakta Sudhama, etc. She had also worked in Tamil and Telugu movies.
Her husband Padmanabha Rao was a theatre artist. SK Padmadevi remained active in theatre till 1960 and was associated with All India Radio for two decades.

Bidar: Former member of the Legislative Council and editor of the Hindi newspaper Bidar Ki Awaaz and the Urdu newspaper Surkh Zameen, Qazi Arshad Ali (75), passed away on Monday, March 3, due to a heart attack.
He is survived by his wife, son, and three daughters.
Qazi Arshad Ali had served two terms as a Legislative Council member and had also held positions as Chairman of the Bidar Urban Development Authority and President of the Congress district unit.
Political leaders, journalists, and residents of Bidar have expressed their deep condolences on his demise.
