Bengaluru: Rural Development and Panchayat Raj Minister Priyank Kharge has questioned why the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) continues to operate without being a registered organization, despite its vast national presence and influence.
Posting on X (formerly Twitter) on Sunday, Kharge referred to RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat’s recent statement that the organisation functions through contributions made by its volunteers. Kharge said this assertion raises several legal and financial questions.
He asked: “Who are these volunteers, and how are they identified? What is the nature and amount of donations collected? Through what methods or channels are these contributions received? If the RSS claims to operate transparently, why are donations not made directly to the organization under a registered identity?”

However, several legitimate questions arise regarding this claim:
•Who are these volunteers and how are they identified?
•What is the scale and nature of the donations made?
•Through…
Kharge further questioned how the RSS manages its finances and organizational structure without being a registered entity. “Who pays the full-time pracharaks (campaigners)? Who meets the day-to-day operational expenses of the organization? How are large-scale events, campaigns, and promotional activities funded?” he asked.
He also sought clarity on how payments are accounted for when volunteers purchase uniforms or materials from local offices. “Who bears the expenses of maintaining local offices and other infrastructure? These questions highlight fundamental issues of transparency and accountability,” he added.
The minister further observed that while every religious or charitable institution in India is required to maintain financial transparency, the absence of similar accountability mechanisms for the RSS raises serious concerns. “What justifies the lack of such responsibility and procedural transparency in the case of the RSS?” Kharge asked.

"The spiritual light of Sri Harmandir Sahib (Golden Temple) inspires peace and humanity across the world. The heritage of Punjab is deep and inspiring," Kovind said, according to a statement issued by the PITEX.
The former president congratulated the PHDCCI for hosting the 19th edition of PITEX and suggested that the chamber should expand PITEX outside Punjab.
