Mangaluru: A case has been registered against a woman for allegedly attempting to smuggle suspicious substances into the Mangaluru prison by concealing them inside food packets.

According to a complaint filed by Jail Superintendent Sharanabasappa, the accused, identified as Ramsoona S, visited the prison to meet undertrial prisoner Mohammad Askar, as reported by Deccan Herald on Saturday.

She had brought five packets of snacks intended for the inmate. The KSISF staff at the jail, while checking the snack packets, found suspicious powdery substance resembling MDMA, wrapped in aluminium foil, concealed within the snack packets.

Ramsoona reportedly told officers that Askar had instructed her to collect the packets from an individual named Hussain in Hosangady and deliver them to him during her prison visit.

Based on the complaint, the Barke police have registered a case.
